Women of the ELCA Groups

​Units affiliated with Women of the ELCA within the New England Synod form the membership of the New England 7B Synodical Women’s Organization. The SWO establishes a partnership with these units and assists them in fulfilling the purpose of Women of the ELCA.

​Clusters or Conferences

Units may be grouped into clusters or conferences whose boundaries normally coincide with those of the New England Synod. Clusters or conferences work interdependently with the SWO and units to:
  • provide learning and leadership development
  • build community
  • offer opportunities for joint ministry and action
  • provide stewardship education and offerings
  • establish communication networks
A planning committee of at least three members, including a coordinator, is elected at the cluster or conference meeting. Committees plan and facilitate programmatic activities with guidance from the SWO and cooperate in funding cluster, conference, and synodical programs.

​Churchwide Women’s Organization

​The New England 7B SWO maintains a constitutional partnership with the Churchwide Women’s Organization. Programmatic functions may be carried out through Region 7.

​New England Synod

The New England 7B SWO maintains a constitutional relationship with the New England Synod. The bishop of the synod, or the bishop’s appointee, serves as a representative to the SWO and provides reports to its convention and board.
